Elite Force
Country: United Kingdom

sHack’s elite force project began as far back as 1996, debuting on his own newly founded fused and bruised label with a series of peerless 12”s and remixes with 12"s such as 'Spirito', 'Bombin' the Subway' and 'Here Come the Flow/Krushyn'. Early remixes for the likes of Scissorkicks, Grand Royal, Surreal Madrid and his other main alias 'Lunatic Calm' (of which he was one half) confirmed his dancefloor credentials.
In 2001 he put fused and bruised on the backburner to concentrate on production work, which led to a flurry of releases on labels such as TCR (as 'Killer Elite'), Moonshine ('Crew One'/'Hi>5'), Lee Coombs' Thrust imprint (as 'Double Black'), and Dylan Rhymes' Blue Black label (as 'Killer Elite'). He also began recording for Meat Katie's whole9yards imprint, releasing no fewer than four massive singles on the label, which all played a significant role in defining a sound now widely referred to as tech-funk. In the summer of 2003 the first elite force album ('no turning back') was released on whole9yards to widespread critical acclaim, leading to a re-press for 2004.
Since the middle of 2003, elite force has been a mainstay for several labels. His 'Driving Me Crazy' single on TCR has not only one of the largest breaks singles of the year for a huge range of producers and DJs, but it's also featured prominently on the playlists of Radio One and XFM. His solo debut on Kingsize ('Melodik'Hypnotik'/'Jack the Joint') came towards the end of 2003, and a second solo outing 'Peyote Road' (featured on current Zabiela compilation) was available from autumn 2004. These singles cemented a very successful relationship that had begun a year previously with the massive-selling 'Toba', the first of several collaborations with Meat Katie. These collaborations also included ‘Juju’, (TCR), and their Roland Clark collaboration, 'The Answer', which made the Top 100 national chart on vinyl sales alone. There have also been several notable remixes from the pairing, for UNKLE, Apollo Kids, Santos, and Forme. Their most recent joint work 'The Fabulous Mint 400' has become a huge summer anthem for 2004 and the pair are currently collaborating on an artist album, involving a number of guest vocalists scheduled for release early in 2005.
As a remixer, Elite Force has always been in considerable demand, with recent re-workings for the likes of crystal method, rennie pilgrem, shiloh, los paranoias, downpressor, ajello, kraymon, toob and madoka all contributing to his reputation as one of the most creative and effective remixers around. All of this helped contribute to a burgeoning reputation that was marked with a nomination for Best Producer of 2003 at the prestigious 'International Breakbeat Awards'.
On the DJ front, sHack's been playing out since 1990 when he cut his teeth playing huge student nights and self-promoted events in the South West of England, before moving up to London and gravitating towards a predominantly breaks blend around 1995. Numerous residencies and guest slots followed during the fused and bruised days, but it's since 2000 that Elite Force has become known as one of the top technicians on a circuit that in 2004 alone has included massive shows in Hungary, Australia, USA, Czech Republic, India, Spain, Japan and China, as well as numerous festival slots including Glastonbury and the Glade.
