THE OUTLINE:
Whether you are on the dance floor or within earshot of him, his sound and the vibe are unmistakable. Many have said, they know it is Lance playing as soon as they enter a room. Why is that? It’s simple. The music he plays gives off a particular feeling that only he can construct. His main intention is to connect with the listener, be it through a DJ experience or something that finds its way out of his Fort Worth-based studio. Music is the foundation on which Lance communicates. Through building bridges musically for over ten years, he has made life-long friends and won a loyal following worldwide.

DJ-ING:
Through his deep involvement and dedication to electronic music for over a decade, Lance has gained the respect of his peers within the music industry. He started on the dancefloor at the age of 19 in Orlando, Florida as a fan of electronic music. Over 10 years later, he stands out in the crowd of faces determined to provide an authentic musical experience to those who come into contact with him or purchase music from his label, Slow Motion Music. As a DJ and producer, Lance pushes himself toward perfection. It’s not the end game that concerns him… it’s the adventure and experience along the way. He continues to grow and expand in the music he loves. Whether it is tweaking a sound in the studio, searching for music or putting together one of the legendary Slow Motion Music events, the dedication is self-evident. When you talk to Lance, you can hear the passion and genuine love and respect that he has for the power of music. Ask a friend of Lance about aspiration and they can trace his steps in the music world from playing small house parties to playing sold out venues throughout North America. Be it 10 people in a room or 10,000, his devotion is clear.

MUSIC PRODUCTION & LABELS:
An idea is the stone before it is tossed into the middle of a tranquil pond. The ripples are the transformation of the idea to reality. They spread to all edges of the pond and the effect is felt throughout. Slow Motion Music is the stone. Lance has always enjoyed providing atmosphere for a particular experience. Slow Motion Music is unique because it remains an ever-evolving idea that has grown since its inception on an early morning in 1999. The most respected names in electronic have made the trek to Texas to play Slow Motion events: John Digweed, Infusion, James Zaliela, Hybrid, Jimmy Van M, Deep Dish, Lee Burridge, Sander Klienenberg, Anthony Pappa, Chris Fortier, John Graham, Mr. C, Asad Risvi, Scott Dixon (Voyager), Medway, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Sam Mollison, Timo Maas, Sandra Collins, Tim Skinner are just a few.

Lance’s work in the studio compliments his work behind the decks. He continuously strives for perfection in his studio creations. His passion for production started in 1997 when he entered the studio with Chris Hand (Knight Life) and Scott Dixon (Voyager/Friction from Friction and Spice fame). With a number of noteworthy releases and remixes, Lance continues to bring forth fresh sounds from the studio. His original works, remixes and collaborations have been played and enjoyed by DJs and electronic enthusiasts around the world. His work as a member of The Baggage Handlers continues with a fresh release on Infusion’s Music for Vinyl label, which will see release in a few months that will include a remix by Infusion.

At Winter Music Conference 2006, Lance’s reworking of The Church “Under The Milky Way” was considered my many, “The track of WMC”. Lance gave the remix to James Zabiela exclusively. James featured the remix in his sets for several months. It seems that this little break beat interpretation captivated dancefloors as James continued to drop it in his energetic funky sets. The ripples continue outwards, reaching new people and drawing them into Lance’s sound.

Lance recently launched the Slow Motion Music label on Beatport.com. Now, the listener, DJ and enthusiast can enjoy music from artists that Lance finds to be generating meaningful music. Beatport.com

RECENT AND FUTURE PROJECTS:
Everyone has trials and obstacles in life. Lance views them as a challenge and learning experience. Your perception is key to working through diversity. It stems from the rebellious nature of his younger years and wanting to do things his way. Lance will be the first to tell you, “Go ahead. Tell me I can’t do something. Tell me that something impossible… I’ll figure out a way to make it happen. Do you think that we would have satellites and space travel if the Wright brothers would have believed people who told them that powered flight was impossible on a wind-swept field in Kitty-Hawk, North Carolina?” Lance started out with an idea and over time that idea has become a reality. And that reality has spread influence around the world. Will he be the 1st DJ to play live from a spacecraft orbiting the earth? Who knows? But, Lance does have a friend who jams to his sets while on long missions in an F-16 Fighter Jet. Lance’s ability to connect is what draws people to him and keeps them there for years.
