Lazy Fat People
THE OUTLINE:
Ripperton and Mirko Loko were both well known DJS on the electronic swiss scene and having a career on their own when they met and discover musical affinities in each others work. They started together under the name of
Lazy Fat People.

THE PAST:
Mirko started when he was 17 years old and quickly got noticed for his musical inspiration, sounds from Detroit and Chicago. He worked as a director & planner of programm and resident DJ on famous national radio Couleur 3 during 3 years and started to mix in Loft electroclub from the opening in 1998.

Raphaël Ripperton started his dj carrier with “Dj at work” @ Le Parloir /Mad along with Juiceppe. When D ! Club opens its doors in 1997, he started a collaboration and mixed with artists such as Dj Spen, Eddie Amador, Cevin Fisher, Simon Dunmore, Nick Holder and became monthly guest Dj at The Rêve d’O in Geneva at the same time. In 1999, he founds the band Soul Merge, works at Tracks Record in Lausanne, organizes the People Nights Parties
and collaborate regularly to Métissages, electronic show on Couleur 3. Between 2000 and 2004 he appears often in different clubs and creates the house label Lovearth Records on which he produces his brand new band :
Reasons with the album “Sounds Natural”, winner of the Diesel U Music Award in 2003 and touring live across Switzerland until end of 2004.

DJ-ING:
Mirko also has a solid experience on the international scene, he played in prestigious clubs like the rex in Paris, the an-fer in Dijon, the Cova and the moog in Barcelona, the Mazzo in Amsterdam, the mythical club Cielo in New
York, the Tresor in Berlin and especially at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (d.e.m.f 2001) in Detroit organised by Carl Craig, who invited Mirko for the second edition. He was also resident at the Matrix in Zurich (belonging to
Sven Väth and Leila from Dekadance) and he played at the 2004 WMC.
Mirko left for New York where he was offered a residency for that period at the New York club Tronic Treatment in Soho. Nowadays, aside from the Lazy Fat People project, Mirko is in charge of the artistic program of the Loft Electroclub and is well supported by his mentors, Carl Craig, Derrick May and Laurent Garnier.

MUSIC PRODUCTION & LABELS:
In 2005, Ripperton works with Stéphane Attias on a new project named Good Samaritans on People Records (London), with his brother Alex Attias mustang) on Neroli rec (Italy) & Visions Rec (London) and is compiled on the top compilation “Suck My Deck” by Damian Lazarus. He also makes a remix of “Controlling the House” for Laurent Garnier and released his project RAYON aka Ripperton on Crosstown Rebel (London), Connaisseurs rec (Germany), which is compiled by Carl Craig on the new Fabric. When you look at both Mirko Loko and Ripperton careers, you can see a lot in common, but they both thought they were going in very different ways until they met in Caprices Festival in 2005 and realised they had mistaken each others work. They talked about a possible collaboration and started very quickly to work on a studio project. After a few months, they sent the result of this collaboration to different labels and got a lot of interest in return. They choosed to sign on Border Community - James Holden’s label - and the first EP of Lazy Fat People, Big City and Dark Water, is to be released early in 2006.
