Pacha New York 1 Year Birthday Party

Pacha New York 1 Year Birthday Party
It was a clear December night with excitement in the air. From the minute we walked up to the club entrance we knew we were in for something special. We were greeted by a red carpet outside usually reserved for celebrities, but tonight it seemed everybody was privy to Pacha’s opulence.

We entered under a rainbow of red & white balloons stretching across 25 feet and there was a private VIP reception in Pachita, the top-level of the club for Pacha friends, family and industry guests hosted by the Sopranos brother & sister mafiosos Jamie-Lynn Sigler & Robert Iler. A beautiful Pacha New York birthday cake decorated a table with two huge bowl of cherries flanked on each side and the Pacha dancers looked hot & sexy in matching red costumes while they entertained and danced with guests.

The interior of the club itself had never looked better with red & white balloons adorning every ceiling and swaths of red cloth and cherry-prints stretching across the banisters and circling the mezzanine. The Pacha cherries were everywhere, so you never forgot exactly where you were. There was definitely a buzz of anticipation in the air, with Pacha’s new creative director Anne-Marie Duchêne making her mark. Her creative imprint was seen throughout the club in the décor and performances and added an element of spontaneity and anything-can-happen momentum to the night. The party incorporated magnificent acrobatic dancers from Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity, a high-flying aerialist that flew over the crowd and exhibited her contortionist prowess, and an exclusive ‘Flagging-Dance’ company synchronized their movements to Erick Morillo’s house music beats

The main event was on the dancefloor though and the swelling crowds clamored for Erick Morillo. His popularity in New York is ever-increasing and Erick really knows what the crowd wants musically and as one of the most in-demand DJs around the world, it’s always a treat to have him in hometown NYC.

At 5AM, the Pacha dancers presented the Pacha cake with candles and confetti, to Erick from across the dancefloor and the whole club erupted in an impromptu “Happy Birthday” serenade. Erick was glowing from the DJ booth as the dancers blew him kisses. Erick thanked everybody and brought back the bass and again for the umpteenth time tonight, and the dancefloor erupted in rhythm and the dancing lasted until the next afternoon.

On the success of the night and all of 2006, Erick says, "one year on and it's amazing to see my dreams of being part of a successful club have come to a reality. Pacha is now considered as the number one club in New York, with a pioneering sound system that's talked about across the world. With our fantastic, loyal crowd that make up the best clubbers in New York we celebrated our first year anniversary in great style along with VIP's from Adriana Lima to Jamie Lynn Sigler. It's great to see so much unfold across the year and to see what's been accomplished is a wonderful thing. I look forward to another successful year in 2007 and many more to follow".

It’s been a great year for Pacha New York, as the club has managed to find solid ground in the madcap world of New York City clubbing. Over the last year the foundation for excellence has been laid with DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Jonathan Peters, Jeff Mills, Boris, Junior Vasquez, Danny Krivit, Carl Cox, Josh Wink, James Zabiela, Miguel Migs, Mark Farina, and the fact that they keep on coming back are a real testament to the vision of the club and the hard work of its staff who are striving to create a special place for nightlife.

Big things are in store for 2007 as former crobar resident Boris defects to Pacha, DJ Times’ America’s Best #1 DJ Jonathan Peters continues to reign and the return of favorites Erick Morillo, Danny Tenaglia, Junior Vasquez, Danny Howells, DJ Vibe and special events including the Paradise Garage Reunion party and the return of Body & Soul in NYC! This and so much more will continue to create a new legacy of clubbing in New York City to look forward to.

See you on the dancefloor!
