Get Physical Music

The Berlin-based label Get Physical Music is run by a true collective - six people who have been active in the electronic music scene for a long time. Only recently, Get Physical was voted fourth most popular label in the 2004 Groove Magazine readers’ poll (“National Label”).

Acting under the collective moniker M.A.N.D.Y., Bodmer and Jung are best known for their remixes of Silicone Soul, Röyksopp, Galleon, Mambotur and the Sugababes. Current remix projects include Freeform Five’s “Strangest things”, „Come into my kitchen“ by Joakim and Seelenluft’s „You come along“. To date they have released three records on Get Physical under their own name. As co-producers they are also behind M.A.N.D.Y. & the SUNSETPEOPLE as well as Chelonis R. Jones. The two inseparable friends have been whipping up a frenzy at most of Germany’s best clubs and festivals and also an increasing number of venues abroad. Among others, they are part of the resident line-up of Frankfurt’s Monza Club as well as Berlin’s foremost party haven Weekend.

Booka Shade are Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, production masterminds behind most of the Get Physical releases (including all records and remixes by M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T., Sunsetpeople, Chelonis R. Jones and, naturally, their own output). Since the mid-90s Merziger and Kammermeier have released a wide variety of projects on prestigious labels like R&S (Degeneration), Harthouse (Synesthasia), Touché (Booka Shade) or Tommy Boy (Oakland Stroke). Their first album „Memento“ was released in late 2004. Together with production colleague Peter Hayo they have been running their own production company and studio for over 15 years and apply their wide range of talents not only to the realm of electronic music, but also to a large variety of other productions.

Thomas Koch aka DJ T. is the founder and publisher of Groove (est. in 1989), a music magazine available in all German-speaking countries. As an author Koch has contributed to a wide variety of books on music (a. o. “Localizer 1.0” and “techno”). In addition, he co-founded the Frankfurt-based Monza Club and, as “DJ T.”, has been moving the German club scene since the late 80s – among others Koch held residencies at seminal clubs like the Music Hall, Dorian Gray, XS, The Box, U60311 and Spectrum/MTW. Nowadays, he can be spotted at Monza events or his current residencies at 50 Grad (Mainz) and Room 106 (Darmstadt) as well as many guest appearances in Germany and abroad. Four years ago DJ T. released his first record together with Steve Bug („Monsterbaze“) on the latter’s Pokerflat label. The last few months saw the release of remixes on Naked Music, 20:20 Vision and Yellow Productions.
