Intrinsic Records

1999 saw an unusual partnership formation when two unlikely would-be-friends met for the first time. Christian Lewis, with a foundation deep set in the heart of dance music and the clubbing scene since the early 90's, and Matt Slater, a classically trained musician working as an orchestrator for a film composer. Christian and Matt headed out to a New Year's Eve World Dance party and from that point onwards Matt was instantly hooked to dance music. Intrinsic Records was formed the next day with Christian at the helm and Matt doing time in the studio.

Intrinsic Records saw early success with their first release being signed to the Ministry of Sound's Clubbers Guide to Trance compilation mixed by ATB. Since then they have licensed tracks to Renaissance, Bedrock, Global Underground and Moonshine to name but a few... With Buzz Chart action, worldwide premier league DJ support, radio plays from the likes of Sasha's on Essential Mixes for Radio One plus regular plays by John Digweed on his KISS FM show, Intrinsic Records has gone from strength to strength.

Now 6 years down the road the partnership is stronger than ever, with new international signings from Athens, Jalisco, London, Helsinki plus Tokyo and a new 3Beat label management deal, with all this in place Intrinsic are all set to keep up their reputation of releasing quality house music and are in gear to embrace the digital download revolution... 2005 also saw the formation of "Ruthless Recordings" a sister label to Intrinsic, serving up breaks. By tapping into intrinsic knowledge, applying essential studio/production skills and sourcing the hottest new artists on the breaks scene Ruthless has a very healthy head start and is set to send shock waves throughout the world of breaks, watch this space...
