The Detroit techo godfather, Jeff Mills, will be embarking this month on a tour with Laurent Garnier where they will play back-to-back pure Music, not just Techno not just House, just Music. Before the house and techno explosion took them both by storm Laurent and Jeff shared a huge musical culture and a love for all kinds of music. This did not disappear with the arrival of house and techno. And it is now that they want to share this with people, to share with people the records they listened to then and still listen to today.
And maybe, just maybe, this might set off a creative process enabling electronic music to take a new direction. So come with an open mind and a smile and be ready to dance till dawn.
Jeff has recently released a 'Choice' album on
Azuli Records. This is a series that series requires the artist to compile an album worth of tracks that have inspired, moved and motivated them; a collection of music that formed the foundations of who they are today. Mills' influences stretch far and wide and to grasp the future you need to understand the past.
