Fatboy Slim to rock Sydneys Bondi Beach on NYE

Monday, 31st October 2005 at 12:46 pm / Words: BeatFactor

Fatboy Slim is set to rock the most famous beach in the world - Sydney’s Bondi Beach. The follow up to the inaugural party on Brighton beach, the Big Beach Boutique II eclipsed everyone’s wildest expectations back in 2002 when 250,000 revelers witnessed the sun setting over the sands to the rock, rocking beats of one of the most influential DJs in the world.

Norman Cook has since then taken his unique tour to South America descending upon Chile, Argentina and Columbia continually drawing in the crowds and in March of this year in Rio he attracted one the biggest crowds to ever see one man perform - 350,000 no less! 2005 saw the release of his highly anticipated album Palookaville, with the follow up show hitting everywhere from Dublin to Ibiza with the curtain due to come down in London during December 2005.

And now – performing on New Years Eve in style - in one of the most famous cities in the world at the most famous beach in the world with 15,000 other clubbers all coming together as one to hear the sounds of the man himself, Fatboy Slim. The promoters responsible for this - Fuzzy are as much an institution in Sydney’s clubbing culture over the last decade than the local and international performers they have showcasing their talent. Fuzzy are renowned for selling out their festivals weeks - even months in advance most notably Parklife, Harbourlife and the hugely successful New Years Day party Field Day which is on every Sydneysiders ‘must do’ list attracting up to 20,000 revelers.

Parklife in it’s sixth year, was held on 2 October 2005 and once again saw another homecoming from one of the purveyors of uplifting house Sandy Rivera. Other acts on the day included DJ Sneak, Tom Neville, A-Skillz, Drummatic Twins, Nick Warren, Roots Manuva, Kaskade, Hybrid and many more… Harbourlife is set to follow on 26th November… Gracefully staged in the vicinity of another one of the most famous backdrops in the world. As the warm summer day comes to a close and the tunes continue to play, the clubbers see the night sky lit up with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, which never ceases to impress with its breathtaking view. Confirmed to date are Martin Solveig, Mark Farina, Touché, Dreadzone Soundsytem and more to be announced…..

And then there’s the seminal Field Day on New Year’s Day. Now in its third year and always living up to the hungry expectations, Fuzzy pulls in yet another draw card. This year is no exception. Headlining the spectacular will be the formidable Roger Sanchez and the elitist of international and homegrown talent on offer namely Tiefschwarz, Krafty Kuts, Derrick Carter, Stereo MCs live, The Glimmers, Evil Nine, Swirl People, Soul of Man, Stanton Warriors, Kid Kenobi, DJ Format and hot on the heels of thir successful Creamfields debut, local boys Infusion.

Safe to say, Sydney is certainly the place to be – particularly this New Year’s Eve - under the stars on Bondi Beach in Australia with an intimate 15,000 making history with one of the most famous guys in the business….it’s a Shore Thing. Fatboy Slim’s coming a long way (baby).
