South West Four Festival 2006 Event Report

Friday, 8th September 2006 at 9:30 pm / Words: Beat Factor

Following two years of sell out events the South West Four festival returns in 2006 spread over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. As part of the Metro Weekender 2006, Saturday 26th saw the beginning of the weekend at Clapham Common home in London for the third year welcoming 20,000 dance music fans. On Sunday 27th August SW4 brought some of the biggest names in dance to Coopers Field, Bute Park in Cardiff.

The Metro Weekender, born in 2005, may not be the most advanced music concept, but it is still very popular, with tickets sold out for a second year running. The general line up may have been predictable but the draw of Carl Cox, who rarely plays in London, in a park on a summer evening proved enough to attract a diverse crowd. The usual UK festival suspects were in attendance, with the Metro team deciding not to take many musical risks.
