French born superstar DJ Miss Kittin is what we call today a perfect dancing machine. Don’t think about Magda, because this is a different path. Miss Kittin has a much selected sense for dance music, doing some of the weirdest combinations between electronic music styles. It goes from techno to tech-house, deep acid house and breaks, minimal to downtempo. Resist Music has picked up one of the most successful names to make a double mix CD, in order to continue the Bugged Out Mix series, after Felix Da Housecat (in 2003) and Erol Alkan (in 2005). The CD is perfectly compiled and divided in two wise “perfect” mixes, the Perfect Night and the Perfect Day. Following the excellent “Radio Caroline” mix from 2002 and three years later her “Live at Sonar” mix CD, it’s now the time to hear some new stuff from Miss Kittin on this double mix compilation, two astonishing bugged out sets.
The Perfect Night mix is what Miss Kittin does the best – underground techno grooves, acid house loops and rough vibes in order to create chaos on the dance floor. Starting with the acapella from Princess Superstar and Perfect, the mix starts fast with DJ K! - Plastic People and after that El Loco, Ibiza. Miss Kittin’s perfect night enhances some underground vibes with a few techno good tracks, such as Armando - 151 (Terrace Mixx) and Misc - Vakuum Audio. So far, I’ve remarked an excellent track from My My, called Serpentine, an awesome techno masterpiece, with deep influences of high quality electro and acid – this is astonishing... A Walking Contradiction from Adam Beyer still catches the listeners, not only on the dance floor but, as we can see, on released mixes such as this one. Following a bouncy electro release from Hacker consisting of a remix to Fixmer / Mccarthy’s Freefall, The Chemical Brothers and Base 6 inserts a disco temperature to the mix, with a chemistry of break-beat and electro. Underground techno is not the only term which can properly define this mix. With some pushing forward hardcore tunes such as Don’t Go by Awesome 3 and My Red Hot Car by Squarepusher, Miss Kittin builds up an overwhelming mix, filled up with scratches, effects, loops and samples, in order to create an idea of what sounds like a Miss Kittin live sessions. Listening to the mix and imagine her at the decks, this is what bugs us out!
“They say if you listen closely, you can hear the sound of today”. The second installment of the compilation is Miss Kittin’s Perfect Day. An amalgam of electronic music styles, commencing with Wagon Christ and the track Shadows and the moving to the minimalism atmosphere of Monolake with the track called Invisible. Donato Dozzy & Brando Lupi and Metal Slave is another excellent production which continues the bizarre path of the mix, indulging in the hypnotic synths. After Jay Haze’s Groove, the perfect day continues with Le Car and the track called Aluminum Rectangles, and the very fine Aphex Twin remix to Falling Free by Curve. Toasty and the hardcore The Knowledge prepares the listener for the freestyle breaks tune by a|b featuring MC Soom-t, called Another Level, featuring some of the best vocals from this mix. by Ricardo Villalobos creates a quiet space of a few minutes when we can hear some good male vocals – this is Cassy Lee mix. After this break, Static and Inside Your Heaven starts slowly with a sweet ambient, and the mix continues with Twine and finally ends up with Christ and the beautiful Medulla Oblongata. Tracklist:

If its to take a conclusion, I would say the Perfect Night is for a late night club session, techno rough tracks, and the Perfect Day is a daytime listen mix, combining more ambient and minimal than bouncing electronic stuff. However, this perfect 24 hours mix can be taken in consideration as Miss Kittin’s latest achievements regarding her DJ-ing skills, wise musical selection and a sensible taste for non-formal dance music.
